Scenically placed beside the River Severn in Shropshire, the ruins of Build was Abbey are counted among the most important Cistercian remains in England - a textbook example of the order's early architectural style. Initially founded for the Savigniac congregation in 1135, Build was was absorbed into the Cistercian community in 1147. Monastic life flourished here until the abbey was suppressed in 1536.
