Guidebook: Longthorpe Tower

The wall-paintings in the great chamber of Longthorpe Tower form a remarkably complete scheme of medieval domestic decoration, and one of the finest surviving examples in northern Europe from this date. They were painted in the early 14th century, soon after the construction of the tower as part of the manor house belonging to the Thorpe family.
