The chaffinch is the UK's second commonest breeding bird. Its patterned plumage helps it to blend in when feeding on the ground but when it flies it reveals flashes of white. It does not feed openly on bird feeders - it prefers to hop about under the bird table or under the hedge. Although shy, it has a distinctive song which is authentically reproduced when you press the underside of our endearing fluffy version.
