La Belle Dame - Tapestry

"La Belle Dame sans Merci"~ From a painting by Sir Frank Bernard Dicksee This graceful wall tapestry has been woven in a fine weave on a Jacquard loom by Master Weavers. "La Belle Dame sans Merci" (French: "The Beautiful Lady without Pity") is a ballad written by the English poet John Keats. The poem describes the encounter between an unnamed knight & a mysterious fairy. It exists in two versions, with minor differences between them. The original was written by Keats in 1819, although the title is that of a fifteenth century poem by Alain Chartier. "She took me to her elfin grot, & there she gaz'd & sighed deep, And there I shut her wild sad eyes So kiss'd to sleep".

Fabrics by their nature are flexible, during storage, humidity and temperature may occasionally affect their shape and also cause creasing. To help a tapestry hang better we recommend using a dry iron on a 'Cotton' setting. Lightly iron the tapestry from the centre towards the edges [on the face]. In very extreme cases the Tapestry can be stretched by pulling the panel gently by hand, diagonally.
