Step into history with these fun socks commemorating the infamous marriages of Tudor King Henry VIII! Printed with the mnemonic ‘Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived’, the socks are a chilling reminder of the king’s colourful history.
Henry VIII reigned in England from 1509 to 1547. He divorced his wife of 23 years, Catherine of Aragon; he had his second wife (and mother of the future Queen Elizabeth I), Anne Boleyn, executed on counts of adultery and treason; his third wife, Jane Seymour, died in childbirth; he divorced his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves; his fifth wife, Catherine of Howard, was beheaded on grounds of adultery; and his sixth and final wife, Catherine Parr, survived his death after a reputedly more harmonious marriage!
