Overview

Rest your drink on this coaster and ponder the theory of evolution  - or just what you are going to have for tea! The coaster is printed with British naturalist Charles Darwin’s Tree of Life illustration, sparking his ground-breaking theories on evolution and natural selection. Darwin made the original sketch in a notebook in 1837 after a 5-year world trip aboard HMS Beagle (1831-6).

The coaster has been produced exclusively for English Heritage as part of our Down House souvenir range. Down House in Kent was the home of Charles Darwin and his family from 1842 until his death in 1882 and was where he wrote his defining work, On the Origin of Species, published in 1859.

Key Features:

  • Exclusive to English Heritage
  • Made in the UK
  • Heat-resistant cork backing

Size: 10 cm x 10 cm
