Situated in the picturesque wooded valley of the River Teise, this impressive abbey was built in the 13th century by Premonstratensian monks. In the 18th century the ruins were landscaped to provide a romantic view from Bayham Old Abbey House.
This guidebook gives a description of the abbey as it can be seen today and as it was built, followed by a brief history of the abbey and those connected with it.
