English Heritage Retail Sustainability Commitment. The Story So Far

Sustainability at English Heritage

Ethical Sourcing

  • Our eco edit range is cruelty free and ethically made. The products are made from recycled coffee cups, recycled paper or unbleached cotton, and all come with recycled packaging.
  • All our preserves and condiments use Fairtrade sugar blended in the UK, and they’re all made using green energy through their Scottish Power contract. Most of the fruit and vegetables we use are grown in the UK on local farms, and all the eggs in our curds are British and free range.
  • Our Science Skincare is handmade in Cornwall.

Packaging

  • We work with our suppliers to use starch based alternatives to plastic packaging wherever we can. Our Christmas cards use this packaging, and the cards themselves are printed on sustainable board stock using recyclable vegetable based inks.
  • The cardboard packaging we use for online orders is made from sustainable sources.
  • We use paper based, non-plastic packing tape.
  • We shred used cardboard to replace bubble wrap whenever we can.

Local Suppliers

  • Many of the products in our shops are made and sourced locally to help local businesses and reduce our environmental footprint.
  • All our honey is made in the UK.
  • Our wine is made in Lyme Bay, Dorset with grapes collected from UK vineyards.
  • We source our pottery from Staffordshire, England’s traditional centre for ceramics.
